About me

Hello! I’m Willow (she/her), an Anthropology PhD candidate at Deakin Uni in (so-called) Melbourne, Australia, exploring a phenomenon close to my heart: mutual aid. You can read more about my project here.

Before landing in anthropology, I completed a BA Honours from the University of Melbourne with undergrad from QUT majoring in critical criminology. Here I developed a long-standing interest in transformative justice and abolitionism (academic and non), and an affinity for cultural criminological approaches to research that are distinctly qualitative and ethnographic.

Since 2018 I’ve also been a Senior Research Assistant at the multidisciplinary Centre for Social Impact at Swinburne Uni, where I’ve dipped my toes into social policy, social enterprise, and diaspora studies. You can read about my RA work at Swinburne here.

Otherwise, I’m a foraging, bicycling, noodle soup-enthusiast based in Naarm/Melbourne. My politics are, for the most part, Anarchist. I enjoy keeping active in communities, political and social alike.
